Grassfed Beef Health Benefits

The health benefits of grass fed beef over grain fed are significant. In fact, being grass fed means more to your health than the organic label. That is because organic beef can be finished on grain.

Grass fed beef is healthier in that it:

  • has only half the saturated fat that a feedlot steer has
  • is significantly higher in omega 3 fatty acids and is shown to reduce bad cholesterol. Omega 3 acids contain good fats, monounsaturated ooils and stearic acid, but contain no manmade trans-fatty acids. Omega 3’s are linked to a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, depression, ADHD, diabetes, alzheimer’s, obesity, asthma, and autoimmune diseases.
  • is lower in “bad fats” and calories.
  • is high in B6 and B12 to reduce homocysteine levels.
  • Is higher in good fats and cancer fighting CLA (even higher than chicken). Ever wonder why our cancer rates are going up?
  • Is the only way you can be in touch with your beef food source, knowing what you are eating, where it was raised, how, and where it was butchered.
  • Is the only way in the future you will know you are not eating “cloned animal meat.” (FDA is recommending no label after approving cloned meat for human consumption)
  • Does not have growth steroids, anti-biotics, or growth hormones used to produce cheapest weight gain.
  • Is raised on pastures in a healthy, natural, non-stressful environment.
  • Does not support the increase of mega-agriculture and its use of chemicals. (Seventy percent of the grain produced in the U.S. is for the purpose of feeding livestock)
  • Is not “stuffed” in the last three months of its life to the point of its organs shutting down, like feedlot beef.
  • Has four times the vitamin E than feedlot beef. That increase is because grass has 20 times the vitamin E that grain does. Antioxidants like vitamin E help the shelf life of beef.
